Change a Pet’s Life Day

January 15, 2022
Change A Pet’s Life Day is coming up on January 24th. When you think about changing a pet’s life, adoption day may be what first comes to mind. Going to a new home is definitely a game changer for our animal companions! However, adopting a pet isn’t the only thing you can do that can change their life for the better. In this article from Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cypress, TX pet clinic, a veterinarian discusses some of the ways you may be able to change a pet’s life.

Call It In

We’re happy to see that more and more laws against animal cruelty are being legislated and enforced. However, this is still an issue that requires community effort. If you see or know of an animal that needs help, contact local authorities or animal charities. If you’re worried about retaliation, look for a way to make the report anonymously. Getting rescued is definitely going to change that pet’s life!

Research

Our animal companions are complex and fascinating. There’s always something new to learn about them! Do some research about your particular type of pet. You may learn something that completely changes your approach or perspective. Or, you may find that something you thought of as a behavioral issue is actually caused by a medical problem.

Go To The Vet

Has it been a while since your furry pal has been to the vet? Let this be a reminder to make an appointment! Early diagnosis can make a huge difference when it comes to treating medical issues in our animal companions.

Donate

There are many wonderful animal rescues and charities out there doing all they can to rescue and care for animals in need. Some of their furry wards need major medical help, such as surgeries or rehabilitations. Look at some local shelters or organizations, and see if any are doing fund drives for specific pets. Monetary donations are great, but if you want to get more involved, consider organizing an event, such as an auction, with proceeds going to that animal’s care.

Adopt

Of course, the best way to change a pet’s life is to adopt one. This isn’t something to take lightly, though. Think things over carefully before proceeding. Adoption is forever! Please contact Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cypress, TX pet clinic, for all your pet’s veterinary care needs. We’re here to help!
