Candles

Candles may give your home a warm, cozy glow, but be very careful when burning them around your animal companion: open flames and pets do not mix! Always use tall, protective candleholders, so you don’t have open flames, and burn candles in high, secure places where your furry pal cannot reach them or knock them over.

Emergency Plan

Make sure to include your pets in emergency planning. If you have multiple pets, have one mature family member be responsible for each pet. Practice fire drills with your family: this simple precaution could save lives!

Pet Kit

Have an emergency kit ready for your pet. Include food, treats, toys, bedding, water, and a first aid kit. You’ll also want to include copies of your pet’s paperwork. Keep this kit in your car, or near your pet’s carrier, so you can grab it quickly.

Fire Prevention
