New Year’s Resolutions for Pet Parents

January 15, 2016
Are you making resolutions this year? Many of us take time to reflect on personal priorities at the start of the new year, and set new objectives for themselves. Why not incorporate your furry best friend into your resolutions? In this article from Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cypress, TX veterinary clinic, you’ll get some great ideas for goals you can set as a pet parent.

Quality Food

A proper diet is crucial to your furry buddy’s health and well-being. Feed your pet the highest-quality food you can afford. Ask your vet for specific recommendations on upgrading your furkid’s menu options, and for advice on changing foods.

Stimulation

Our furry friends can get restless and bored, just like we can. Offer your pet plenty of fun toys to keep them amused while you’re away, and take time to play with your furball each day. Those play sessions will keep your four-legged buddy happy and content, burn off excess energy, and can also help with many behavioral issues. Fido will benefit from daily walks, while Fluffy may enjoy watching birds and squirrels from a comfy window seat.

Proper Veterinary Care

Make sure to keep up on your four-legged buddy’s wellness care, including parasite control products. When it comes to animal care, an ounce of prevention can be worth several pounds of cure! Most adult dogs and cats should see the vet at least once a year: younger furballs and senior pets may need more frequent visits. Ask your vet to recommend an appointment schedule. In between visits, watch your furry friend for any possible signs of illness, and contact your vet immediately if you notice anything amiss.

Quality Time

Don’t forget to spend some quality time with your furry best friend. Our canine buddies will enjoy and appreciate changes of scenery, like a trip to a doggy park. Of course, you can also get Fido’s furry tail going simply by indulging him with belly rubs or fun games of fetch. As for Fluffy, she may want nothing more than to snuggle up on your lap. A pet’s love and friendship is a beautiful thing: take time to enjoy it! Happy New Year! Please feel free to contact us here at Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cypress, TX vet clinic, anytime. We are looking forward to serving all of your pet’s veterinary care needs in 2016 and beyond.
