Fido’s Holiday Plans

December 1, 2019
With the holidays coming up, many people are busier than usual, with seasonal parties and events taking up lots of calendar space. As it turns out, your canine friend may also have a few things planned for the next few weeks. In this article from Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cy-Fair animal clinic, a local vet lists a few of the things on your pup’s holiday agenda.

Greet Visitors

Our canine companions are always on door patrol. Fido will always let you know when visitors arrive. If your pet tends to jump on people, start working with him to teach him better manners. That’s just bad door doggy petiquette!

Beg

Those scrumptious holiday meals are a big part of many seasonal festivities. Fido will certainly take notice of those delicious seasonal dishes! There’s no reason you can’t give your pup something special. Just stick to things you know are safe for him. Plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry, without the skin, bones, or fat, is a good choice. Never give your furry pal anything that contains garlic, onions, or chives; avocado; caffeine; chocolate; nuts; mushrooms; alcohol; or xylitol. Other dangerous foods include grapes, currants, and raisins; meat on the bone; and raw dough or yeast.

Nap

No matter what time of year it is, Fido will remain dedicated to his napping schedule. (Tip: a new bed is a great gift for your pooch.)

Play!

Take time to play with your furry best friend every day. This is especially important if Fido seems a bit anxious, or if he’s spending more time alone than usual. Many pooches get uneasy around the holidays, due to schedule changes, visitors, loud noises, travel, and/or boarding. Fun play sessions will take the edge off!

Enjoy Their Gifts

Dogs are always super cute when they know they are getting a new toy or treat. Fill your pup’s stocking with goodies, and snap some photos of him enjoying his presents.

Be Adorable

Your lovable pet won’t have any problems meeting this goal. Our furry buddies keep us smiling with their goofy antics, cute happy dances, and hilarious expressions. Keep Fido’s cute tail going by paying lots of attention to him. All of us here at Fairfield Animal Hospital, your local Cy-Fair animal clinic, want to wish you and your pets a wonderful holiday season. Please reach out if we can ever be of assistance!
