Things That Make Cats Happy

March 15, 2022
World Happiness Day is March 20th. Our feline friends definitely deserve a turn in the spotlight for this one! Cats really do have a special way of putting smiles on our faces. Why not brighten up your cat’s day a bit? A local vet lists some of Fluffy’s favorite things in this article from Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cypress, TX animal clinic.

Good Food

This really isn’t a surprise: who doesn’t enjoy a good meal? Offer your feline pal a high-quality food, one that is suitable for her age, health, and lifestyle.

Clean Litterboxes

You can’t blame Fluffy for this one. Nobody likes a dirty bathroom! Keep your pet’s purrsonal powder room clean.

New Toys

Toys are really Fluffy’s main form of entertainment. Keep your furry little friend’s toy box full!

Sunbeams

Cats aren’t cold-blooded, so they don’t need to bask to keep their body temperature up. However, it seems that no one has told them that yet. If you find Fluffy snoozing in a sunbeam, you’ll probably notice that she looks completely relaxed and content.

Beds

Comfy beds are definitely one of Fluffy’s favorite things. We’re pretty fond of them ourselves! Store bought beds are great, but kitties also enjoy napping on soft folded blankets, ottomans, and, of course, their owners.

Scratching Posts

Kitties have a very strong instinctive need to keep their nails sharp. Make sure Fluffy has a good peticure station, such as a cat tower or scratching post.

Boxes

This may be one of Fluffy’s stranger obsessions, but it definitely fits the parameters of things that make cats happy. Give your cute pet an empty box to conquer every now and then. Sometimes it really is the little things!

Playtime

Playing is important for more than simple entertainment. Cats are predators by nature, and they are instinctively driven to, well, attack things. Taking a few minutes a day to play with your furball, and let her indulge her inner tiger.

You

At the end of the day, kitties need to feel loved to really be content. Pay lots of attention to your feline buddy, and keep that motor going! Talk to Fluffy, pet her, play with her, and let her doze off on your lap. Do you have questions or concerns about your kitty’s health or care?
