Fido’s Summer Plans

June 1, 2022
Summer isn’t far off now! We know many people have big plans for this year, after the last few were interrupted by the pandemic. Our canine patients also have a few things on their agenda for the next few months. In this article from Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cy-Fair, TX animal clinic, a local veterinarian lists some of the things on your pet’s summer to-do list, and offers tips on helping Fido achieve them.

Explore

Man’s Best Friend is very curious, and he loves to check out new places. Take Fido to some new parks or trails this year. There are now apps that are great for finding spots you may have missed otherwise.

Grill Out

Here in Texas, barbequing is popular all year long. However, it’s defin itely many people’s preferred method of cooking on those sweltering summer days. Fido will be more than happy to join you! Just keep a close eye on him, and make sure he doesn’t eat anything unsafe.

Enjoy A Cool Snack

We probably don’t have to tell you how hot Texas summers can get. Treat Fido to a cold snack. You can get doggy ice cream in most pet stores, but you don’t have to do anything fancy. Want a quick and easy option? Put crushed up treats and bits of kibble into an ice cube tray, and pour water or sodium-free broth over it.

Make Friends

Dogs are very sociable, and they do benefit from being able to play and interact with other pooches. Meet up with some friends at the dog park, or host a potluck and invite some of Fido’s buddies over. Just make sure to only include friendly pups.

Go Swimming

Does your pooch enjoy swimming? Get that tail going by bringing him to a pet-friendly swimming hole. Fido may also enjoy splashing around in a kiddie pool or the spray from a sprinkler. These moments definitely make for some super cute pictures!

Hang Out With The Human

All Fido really wants to do is spend time with you. No matter how packed your summer schedule is looking, it’s important to take some time to just relax and unwind. Enjoy the time you have with your canine buddy, and just savor those quiet moments. Here at Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cy-Fair, TX animal clinic, we’re dedicated to offering top-notch care.
