Fun Ways to Celebrate National Dog Day

August 15, 2017
Did you know that August 26th is National Dog Day? (We know, every day is National Dog Day, but this one is official.) Dogs are much more than just pets: they are our friends and companions, and help make our lives and households complete. This is a great time to get Fido’s furry tail wagging with some extra TLC! In this article from Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cy-Fair vet clinic, a local vet offers tips on how to pamper your pooch on his special day.

Toys

Toys are very important to Fido’s health and well-being. They help keep him entertained, and allow him to occupy his time with something other than mischief. Bring your canine pal a new plaything! Chew toys and rope toys are great, but you can also get your pup an automated ball launcher, or a puzzle toy.

New Bed

A new bed is a great way to make Fido feel pampered, loved, and, of course, comfy. If your canine companion is a big dog or a senior, consider getting him an orthopedic bed.

Fun Excursion

Dogs love exploring new places! Take Fido on a fun trip to a park or a doggy café. Or, change up his walking route and explore a new path.

Treats

Nothing quite gets Fido’s furry tail going like the thought of a yummy treat. Offer your loyal pet something special, like a hamburger, or even some plain, boneless steak. Just be sure to only give your canine friend foods that are safe for him. Ask your vet for more information.

Playtime

Playing is not only fun for dogs, it’s also great for them. Spend a few extra minutes tossing Fido’s favorite toy for him to fetch, or holding a laser pointer so he can chase after that mysterious red dot.

Veterinary Care

We know, Fido probably would rather spend his time doing anything but visiting us. (We don’t take it personally.) However, proper veterinary care is crucial to your furry buddy’s health! Take a few minutes to book your pup’s next appointment.

Puppy Play Zone

Does your four-legged pal have a yard to chase squirrels around in? Make Fido’s outdoor area more fun for him by adding a wading pool or a sandbox. Please contact us here at Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cy-Fair pet clinic, anytime. We’re dedicated to providing excellent care!
