Reasons Rabbits Make Great Pets

September 15, 2020
September 22nd is International Bunny Day! This is one occasion that we are ‘hoppy’ to celebrate! Floppy may not be quite as popular as Fluffy or Fido, but she does have some dedicated fans. There’s a good reason for that. These cute little balls of fur really do make wonderful pets! In this article from Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cy-Fair animal hospital, a vet lists some reasons to celebrate International Bunny Day!

They’re Quiet

Noise levels are definitely something to consider before adopting a pet, especially if your neighbors are close by. Bunnies are very quiet, so you won’t have to worry about fielding angry calls.

They Don’t Have Expensive Tastes

It isn’t hard to keep Floppy’s toybox full. Your furry little friend will happily play with a toilet paper roll or some crumpled-up sheets of paper tossed into a shoebox.

They’re Trainable

It takes quite a while to teach Fido to learn how to be a good boy. As for Fluffy, well, she’s more likely to train you. Bunnies, however, are actually quite easy to train. You can even teach your furry pal to use a litterbox.

They’re Easy On People With Allergies

Do you or any of your family members suffer with allergies? This can definitely put the brakes on hopes of adopting a dog or cat. However, bunnies are actually often much easier for people with allergies to tolerate. Rexes, for example, have very little dander and only shed lightly, which makes them a great option.

Bonding

Rabbits can be timid, but once they warm up to you, they can form very strong bonds with their humans. You may be surprised at how affectionate these little balls of fur can be!

Bunny Personality

Floppy may be small, but she has a big personality. Don’t let that innocent face fool you! Bunnies can be stubborn, bossy, and mischievous. They also have a special way of keeping their humans smiling.

Clean

Rabbits are actually very clean. While Floppy may leave pellets around if she hasn’t been litter trained, these are dry and generally odorless, so they’re easy to clean up.

They’re Cute

Last but certainly not least, rabbits are adorable. Floppy’s adorable face and playful antics are bound to melt your heart! Please contact Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cy-Fair animal hospital, with any questions or concerns about bunny care. We’re here to help!
