New Year’s Resolutions For Dogs

January 1, 2020
Happy New Year! If you’re making resolutions this year, your canine buddy will stay loyally by your side as you strive to make your new goals. Actually, your pup may have a few resolutions of his own! In this article from Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cy-Fair animal clinic, a vet lists some doggy resolutions.

Collect Lots of Belly Rubs

It’s hard not to smile when you see that jubilant, happy expression dogs get when they’re enjoying getting ear scritches or belly rubs. Pay lots of attention to your pet this year!

Perfect My Begging Expression

Fido can be quite the little ham, especially when he’s spotted some yummy food. It’s hard to resist those sad eyes! Your canine pal may want to have you trained to hand over food on demand this year. Treats are fine, but don’t overindulge your four-legged friend.

Keep Up With Door Doggy Duty

Dogs have been by our sides for thousands of years. One of Fido’s earliest jobs as Man’s Best Friend was guarding our homes and livestock. Your pet will dutifully announce visitors, often before the doorbell even rings.

Get The Human To Play

Does your pooch sometimes run up to you holding his favorite toy? Fido has a pretty adorable way of asking you to play with him. Indulge your furry buddy, and play with him every day. It’s great for your pup, and it will be fun for you, too!

Window Time

Dogs love looking out windows and watching what’s going on outside. They’re also pretty fond of making nose art on windows. (Tip: use newspapers and vinegar to remove your pet’s masterpieces.)

Relax

Fluffy may be the champion napper among our furry pals, but Fido is no slouch here, either. Dogs spend about half of their time snoozing. (Tip: a comfy new bed would be a great gift for your pooch!)

Catch That Squirrel

No explanation needed here! We predict lots of squirrel chasing for 2020.

Be A Good Boy

One of the many things we love about our canine companions is the fact that they actively try to please their humans. Fido loves getting praise and compliments! Remember to reward your furry best buddy for good behavior. All of us here at Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cy-Fair animal clinic, want to wish you and your families a wonderful new year.
