7 Ways to Celebrate Kids And Pets Day

April 15, 2019
There’s a pretty adorable holiday around the corner: April 26th is National Kids And Pets Day! Pets are actually very beneficial for children. They teach our littles ones about friendship and compassion; provide friendship and comfort; and act as playmates, napping buddies, and, in some cases, guardians. In this article from Fairfield Animal Hospital, your Cy-Fair pet clinic, a local veterinarian lists some great ways to honor this special occasion.

Photos

Snap some cute photos of your youngster with their furry best friend. This would actually make a great annual tradition! Down the road, it will be fun to look back and see how your child and your pet have grown and changed over the years.

Visit a Zoo

Bring your little one on a fun excursion to a local zoo, or visit an animal rescue or farm that is open to the public. This is a great way to both educate your child and help them learn about different types of animals.

Arts and Crafts

There are many great DIY options for pet toys and furniture. This is a great project for kids! Have your little one build a box castle for Fluffy or a rope toy for Fido. You can also have your child draw your pet.

Make Homemade Treats

Another cute way to celebrate this special day is by making some special homemade snacks for your four-legged friend. You’ll find some great recipes online. Just stick with ones that use only pet-safe ingredients.

Watch a Movie

Watching a cute animal movie is a wonderful way to spend some quality time with your family. Make a yummy snack, and pick a great film. We probably don’t have to tell you that you’ve got a long list of options to choose from.

Playtime!

Pets are playful and active, so playtime is both fun and beneficial for them. Buy or make your furry companion a new toy, and spend some time just playing with them. This will be fun for both you and your pet!

Cuddles

Wind down by giving your family pet lots of TLC. Offer your four-legged pal lots of ear scritches and belly rubs. Purrs and tail wags are some of life’s greatest gifts, in our book!
